Tracing my family tree!

Dear WETZOLD Cousins

without comments

I am trying to get in contact with any and all people that share the surname WETZOLD! I am trying to trace the family genealogy and know there are at least two (different) lines of this family living in the USA – I would like to get in contact with those of you still living in Germany (or anywhere else) and see if the lines can be traced further back and/or connected.

I am not looking for weird vital information in order to scam anyone – just genealogy info. In this day and age of the internet and Facebook and such I figure it might be easier to connect.

The info. I am looking for is basically what, if any, ancestry information you have. Do you know your grandparents’ names and info? How about your great grandparents? Further back?

What city were you born? Where do you live now?

Have you heard any family stories?

If you are here in America – when did your family get here?

Thank you so much for reading and I hope to hear from you!

My email is starryskye81 (AT) gmail (DOT) com

Brandenburg & Berlin Research

without comments

I think I’ve finally figured out that – in fact (after hearing it from my father all these years) – our family hails from the Brandenburg area of Germany. I speak ZERO German (except some swear words and “1, 2, 3, drink!”) so hopefully, Google Translate will be kind to me in my research!

Fredrick Charles Otto WETZOLD (he went by Otto)
Born: January 22, 1868 in Berlin, Germany

I had his parents listed as:
Edward WETZOLD
Louise WIRKE

Then, I found a potential sister of Otto … I say “potential” because I have no proof, just a search from FamilySearch.org. I don’t have my usual access to Ancestry.com to look further.

Selma Louise Hedwig WETZOLD
Born: August 4, 1873 (Christened Aug 31) in Berlin, Brandenberg, Preußen, Germany

Parents of Selma:
Gustav Eduard WETZOLD
Louise WICKE
