Florida Girl

My parents just left a couple days ago from a week and a half long visit with us. It was sad watching them go. Being with them reminds me of life back “home” in Florida – mainly because it was really cold here in Virginia while they were here and both of them kept complaining! LOL … It reminds me how much I LIKE the warm weather in Florida! I’m a total Floridian, a “Disney Girl” mind you. Love the Orlando area, love to visit the attractions and the restaurants. Orlando is what a lot of people picture when they think of Florida. You know; the “Mouse” and all. There is actually a ton to see in the Orlando – Kissimmee area.

I love to visit the parks and check out the history in the area. If you are into history like me you can check out a “Florida Cracker” house from the turn-of-the-century at the Osceola County Historical Society & Pioneer Museum. Bok Tower Gardens is also a historical landmark and is pretty impressive.

Historic Downtown Kissimmee features lots of old buildings from the early days. You will also find a nice farmers market there each Thursday. There are a lot of places to relax and have a picnic here also – there is a beautiful lake – Lake Toho – that you should check out.

Old Town is pretty neat also. My husband would loves this place for one main reason – each weekend there is an old “classic” car cruise! Old T-Birds, Cadillacs … just cruising down the drag showing off! Friday night features cars from 1987 backwards to 1972. Saturday night features cars from 1972 and back! Old Town is also home to over 75 shops where you can find every Florida tourist item you could want to old Hollywood glam.

If you are into hiking and camping there is also a ton for you to check out! There are beaches and parks where you can relax and chill out – check out the crabs (in the sand!!) throw fries at the birds (if you want to be forever sitting with said birds!) or watch the waves. It’s beautiful to watch the sunset over the water. It’s something that I miss being able to do – there are no palm trees here in Virginia.

Would you like to see all this for yourself? Maybe even for free? My Mama always says “If it’s free it’s for me!” which I’m pretty sure she got from a radio program out of Tampa. So in honor of the “Current Economy doth Sucketh” I have some awesome news for you. Check this out … Kissimmee is giving away three weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two; and two weeklong vacations for four.

Drawings will be held on or around 4/1/09, 5/1/09 and 6/1/09.

The best vacations are free! So enter the sweepstakes now! Be there are be square! You dig?
