Insidious: Chapter 2

For my birthday a few days ago my husband took me out on a date night for dinner and Insidious: Chapter 2! We both really enjoyed the first Insidious movie and were stoked that the sequel came out right in time for my birthday! Most cool horror flicks come out in time for my husband’s birthday because he was born the day before Halloween. Lucky bastard …

Anyway, the movie really lived up to my expectations! I thought that while it wasn’t quite as scary as the first installment, it was a really super creepy and well-made follow up. It kept with the story line and even added more to the background – a LOT more! I love a story with an actual STORY and not just non-stop gore. This isn’t a gory movie, it’s more of a psychological thriller a’la The Shining. Yes, I absolutely compared the two because there seemed to be a small homage to The Shining within Insidious 2 – not sure if it was on PURPOSE but … well, when you see it let me know!

Here’s the quick synopsis from Wikipedia:

“Insidious: Chapter 2 is a 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan. It is a sequel to 2011’s Insidious. The film stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne reprising their roles as Josh and Renai Lambert, a husband and wife who seek to uncover the secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world. The film was released on September 13, 2013.”

Don’t bother staying through the credits, there are no extras or stingers.

Ps. Anyone who has young kids or has ever owned some of the Fisher-Price brand electronic toys will be cursing them during and after the movie!

I Have 533 Kids!? Delivery Man Sneaky Peek!

Guys! What would you do if you realized that – 20 years after making a few donations to a fertility clinic – that you’ve fathered over 500 kids? Would you want to know who they were? How about if they wanted to know who YOU were?

Affable underachiever David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn) finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them file a lawsuit to reveal his identity.

I think he does what any guy would do – stay anonymous and play “guardian angel” to his kids! Okay, that’s maybe not what ANY guy would do – but it’s what David Wozniak does!

Ready for a sneak peek of the trailer?

Delivery Man will hit theaters on November 22, 2013!

All-Star Cast in This is the End

I love movies that fall somewhere between “horror” and “comedy.” The first Scary Movie made me laugh SO HARD and Zombieland is one of my favorite movies of all time (same with Shaun of the Dead!). So, when I saw the trailer for This is the End I was very excited! Talk about an all-star cast! The movie stars James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera and Emma Watson.

The movie follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

The movie looks HILARIOUS and – thanks to Aloha Agency and Ward 16 Theaters – my husband and I will be seeing this movie on the 10th! Woohoo DATE NIGHT!!

Don’t forget to grab your tickets to go see it when it comes out on June 12th!

Disney’s “Planes” Flying into Theater’s in August #DisneyPlanes

From above the world of “Cars” comes “Disney’s Planes,” an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar. “Disney’s Planes” takes off in theaters on Aug. 9, 2013.

The kids and I LOVE both of the Cars movies! So we are super excited about seeing Planes! I’m a bit bummed though because when we lived in Virginia Beach we’d always hit Cinema Cafe (so, SO much easier when you have little ones!!) – but here in Hawaii there is no movie theater like it. So hopefully when we do get to go see Planes my two year old behaves herself and doesn’t climb the walls like a monkey!

Are You Excited for Monsters Inc. 3D?!

Monsters Inc. - Sully and Boo“Monsters, Inc.” is one of my favorite Disney movies for kids! The characters are sweet and memorable and the “message” – don’t be scared of the ‘unknown’ – is fantastic!

The film brings to life the nighttime fears that haunt most every kid—including Oscar®-winning director Pete Docter (“Up”), whose own childhood memories sparked the story for “Monsters, Inc.” “One thing I knew was that monsters existed and they were in the closet, especially at night,” he says. “My clothes would turn into different things—tentacles, claws and eyes. We began thinking that there must be some reason why monsters
scare kids and started playing with that notion.”

“Monsters, Inc.,” originally released on Nov. 2, 2001, was the highest grossing animated film at the global box office in 2001. The film and director Pete Docter were nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature in the first year that category was established.

For those of you who haven’t seen the movie – here’s a synopsis:

“Monsters, Inc.” is set in Monstropolis, a thriving company town where monsters of all shapes and sizes reside. Lovable James P. Sullivan (Sulley) (voiced by John Goodman) and his wise-cracking best friend Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) are the top scare team at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream-processing factory. The main power source in the monster world is the collected screams of human children—and at Monsters, Inc., an elite team of scarers is responsible for gathering those precious natural resources. Believed by monsters to be toxic, children are strictly forbidden from entering Monstropolis, so when a little girl named Boo (voiced by Mary Gibbs) accidentally follows Sulley back into his world, he finds his career in jeopardy and his life in utter chaos. Together, Mike and Sulley plot to rectify  the mistake and return Boo to her home, but when the trio encounters an unexpected series of complications,  they become embroiled in a coverup, catapulting them into a mystery beyond their wildest dreams.

I’ve been sent a few super cute printables for you and your kids!

Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Trailer

I am getting SO EXCITED for this movie!! I mean – I might be a Twi-Mom but that fandom doesn’t come NEAR what I feel about the Harry Potter series!

Drool over the trailer with me:

Deathly Hallows Part I comes out this November (actually – 10 days after my due date!) and Deathly Hallows Part II comes out July 2011! So EXCITED!!! I’m trying not to read the book again because I was so disappointed with how Half-Blood Prince was brought to the big screen. We shall see though – maybe they learned their lesson and will cover more being that the final book is two movies.

But speaking of The Twilight Saga and it’s newest book to movie Eclipse … Are you going to see it in theater’s? I already bought my tickets and will be seeing it on Wednesday at 7:30pm. I love making fun of the tween girls who howl at the screen! I saw New Moon three times at the movie theater and I think Eclipse is going to be a much better movie!
