Early Christmastime Fun

I love, love LOVE getting packages in the mail! So, I was especially happy to receive some neat things from vat19.com. I got some great Insta Snow fake snow powder, a chocolate scented pencil and a fireplace DVD!

I tried out my cool Smencils gourmet scented pencil first! I was checking out some of the black Friday sales and making a list with it. They aren’t kidding, this pencil REALLY smells like chocolate – and the best part? The pencil is made from 100% recycled newspapers! It even came already sharpened for me 🙂

As I type this post I have the Ambient Fire video fireplace DVD playing in the background. It’s beautiful, I’ve wanted one of these for a few years now. My parents want one also, so this is definitely a great stocking-stuffer idea for them.

I didn’t try out the Insta Snow just yet though. With all the moving and packing and lack of decorating I figured it would just be put to waste. I will play with it once we get to the new house and I start decorating for Christmas. I have a great snowman statue that will look awesome on it! Or maybe my snow globe … Or maybe a little holiday village.

Oh yeah, they also have a Desktop Charging Valet for the hubby. This puppy will charge the iPod, the phone and the PDA … Cool! I can’t be the only one having the fun, right?

Forget Google, We’ve Got REALRANK!

The folks over at Izea are pulling out all the stops and running themselves ragged by rolling out their Real Rank system EARLY thanks to the slap in the face that Google issued to bloggers a few weeks ago (and again a few days ago).

Real Rank will tally a blogs REAL stats, as opposed to Google’s own weird algorithm from hell.

A blog written by Izea’s own Pete explains more about the rollout – happening TOMORROW!

Needless to say, opportunities to blog for some extra cash have been few and far between since the Google smackdown. Part One & Part Two.

I’m so (bloggin’) excited!

That and I got some super cool samples today. I’m sniffin’ my chocolate pencil and getting mighty …. hungry.

Sweeny Todd

I don’t know about you, but I am VERY excited that “Sweeny Todd” is 1. now a movie, 2. is starring Johnny Depp and 3. is coming out soon (Christmas!). I am a huge Johnny fan, and a huge Tim Burton fan also!

So, Tim Burton – he’s directing so you know the movie will be dark and gothy, and super awesome. Johnny Depp is playing Sweeny Todd, although one issue I can see having is that he sounds like Jack Sparrow from the “Pirates” trilogy. Guess a person can only have a couple “voices” (I know Mike Myers only has a couple .. I always hear him repeat them). Helena Bonham Carter is in the movie also as well as Alan Rickman, Sasha Baron Cohen and even Anthony Head (gosh, he’s been everywhere lately!)

Based on the 19th century legend of Sweeney Todd and the hit Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Sweeney Todd a.k.a Benjamin Barker returns to London after being sent away by Judge Turpin with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pie Shop were she sells “the worst pies in London.” With the help of Mrs. Lovett, Todd tries to rid of all the people who have ever done him wrong and hopes to be reunited with his daughter, Joanna, who is now Judge Turpin’s ward. This movie looks awesome!

I’ve been sorta working on another blog the past couple months. I write here and there because I’ve been busy working on this one and OohRah instead. The website is called “Christineisms” (for now) and is reviews, products, thoughts and of course some snark, lol! I’ve reviewed our Applebee’s dinner tonight on the blog, so go check it out. Otherwise, the main url for the new blog is here!

Yeah, I need to go to bloggers anonymous I think …

My friends and their 2 kids (3 & 4) and the hubby, our kid (3) and I went to the Applebees near St. Johns Towncenter here in Jacksonville for some dinner. It took around 15 – 20 minutes to even have someone come and take our drink orders! The boys food came first (we ordered it with our drinks along with our food) and they were done quickly. The kids were done eating and we were still waiting on our food to get to us. It took around a 1/2 hour for that to happen.

The place wasn’t full, so there was NO reason for it to take that long. We both ended up giving 5% and 10% to our server. We weren’t pains (seriously, I brought plenty of toys) and we didn’t demand much. Sigh … ahh well. This won’t stop me from eating there, but seriously Applebees, don’t drag your ass. Those of us with kids (young kids) don’t mind the “turn ’em and burn ’em” attitude, lol …. Crayons can only go so far.

Update on “Us”

Alan’s home!! He flew into our hometown on our Anniversary (the 16th) 🙂 Xander and I are still sick – Xander being a little worse than me. He’s coughing and sleepy all the time. He’s pretty pitiful if you ask me. We’ve been keeping him doped up on Motrin (for the heat coming off him) and Robitussen (because the Dimetapp was not working).

We went out to dinner with Valerie her hubby Jason and their kids tonight. Our boys are like brothers, we’re going to miss them. I am trying to hang out with my friends (and Xander’s friends) as much as possible before we leave – but it’s turning into a problem since it’s Thanksgiving week … Everyone is heading out of town 🙁

Jacksonville is only 10 hours away from Virginia … right?

Our house up there is all signed and paid for. Our electricity and water get turned on the day before we get there. I still have to call for cable and internet though. All our contemporary furniture gets delivered on Tuesday. Hopefully Alan can be home for a little while for that – otherwise I’m on my own. No biggie.

We’re looking at getting a trailer hitch put on our minivan so we can tag team the drive up. We don’t have a ton of stuff here to pack, so the big trailer should be fine.

Too much to do … too little time. The house looks like a tornado went through it because of my suitcase, Alan’s suitcase and the packing paper Xander shredded all over the floor. Laundry is piled everywhere also since I’m making sure everything is clean before I pack it. Thankfully, Alan just changed the light bulb in our bedroom so we have light in there now. So, I can work in there at night. I was trying to pack things in Xander’s room this afternoon and Xander was trying to sit in my lap – so I got 2 boxes packed/sealed. There are 5-6 boxes in our bedroom that are half packed. I just need to finish throwing stuff in and seal them.

I need a list …
